No matter how fucked up a job is, you can still have a great culture.

No matter how fucked up a job is, you can still have a great culture. And vice versa.

At the post office: normally, people with a grumpy face handling packages. The faster I’m back out again, the better.

But not so at this privately owned post office in the city: people are friendly, having a laugh with each other, joking with the customers.

What’s different? The job is the same after all.

Somehow those employees managed to get their mindset on a positive trajectory.

On the other hand: in the last few years I have worked with many great companies and overall fantastic people on interesting projects.

Most companies do awesome stuff, pay their people well and everybody’s generally proud to be associated with their employer.

But still, the atmosphere is fucked up. People are acting like in the first post office example.

Why’s that, and what can be done to get them out of that negativity?
