Innovators, stop obsessing over processes! They will get you nowhere.
Your biggest challenge as a corporate innovator?
To keep the speed of learning as high as possible. Most don't manage to achieve this.
In big organisations it's easy to get caught up in trying to build the perfect process. Or in strategizing about which field to explore next. Or in convincing management to invest in the next step.
And why?
To create an illusion of safety and security that simply doesn't exist when doing non-incremental innovation.
Instead get used to the thought of doing leaps of faith. If you can't take controlled risks, you're in the wrong job.
Then again, "speed of learning" and "controlled risks" go hand in hand.
The faster you learn something about a new business model or customer problem, the better data you have to suggest a next step in the project.
So instead of obsessing about the process itself, roll up your sleeves and start building already!
